Meet Kareem, a Bay Area native who works as both an Uber driver and a carpenter foreman. True to his California roots, Kareem believes driving clean-tech vehicles like hybrids and EVs is not only a great way to save money on gas (and believe us, you can save A LOT of money driving electric), but also an opportunity to minimize his overall impact on the environment. āIām super conscious of leaving a small footprint,ā he says.
Though heād previously driven a hybrid, when he needed a new vehicle Kareem was intrigued by the possibility of going fully electric. But he wanted to be able to ādip a toe in the poolā before making a long-term commitment. Enter Flux, which Kareem first discovered on Uberās Road to Zero Emissions page.
Today, Kareem cruises around the Bay Area with his Uber riders in a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV ā a fully electric hatchback with a 238-mile range and 0-60mph acceleration that packs a punch (check out the Bolt taking on a turbocharged Volkswagen Golf GTI here). The Boltās fast acceleration (a feature of any electric vehicle) isnāt its only impressive feature, though ā according to Kareem, the Bolt is ādeceptively spacious. Iām 6ā4ā and when I push the driverās seat all the way back, I can barely reach the pedal.ā
Kareem believes Flux is a great option for gig drivers ā especially those that do lots of city driving ā and anyone else who might want to drive an EV. āThey give you the full electric experience with a more reasonable and minimal commitment,ā he says. And though YouTube serves as a great resource for learning more about driving electric, Kareem sees Fluxās support staff as a game changer: āThey always pick up my call. Itās incredible!ā
Thanks for sharing your story, Kareem (and go Giants, Niners, and Warriors)!
